Not every dojo or gym is a completely open and regular space.
Some training areas have structural columns in the center, while others have columns near a wall, at the edge of the mats, or beside an entrance. These columns cannot be removed, but they can be covered with suitable padding so that they fit more naturally into the overall training space.
QT MAT can provide two solutions for different column structures and installation conditions.
A separate column pad can be produced according to the actual shape and measurements of a square, rectangular, round, or other site-specific column.
Roll-out mat material can be cut according to the column dimensions and fitted around the column when this method is suitable for the installation.
These are two different product solutions, with different structures, appearances, and installation methods. The photos in this article may therefore show both dedicated column pads and columns wrapped with roll-out mat material.

A dedicated column pad is produced separately according to the actual shape and measurements of the column.
It can be designed for a square, rectangular, or round column, with the opening position confirmed according to the site conditions. Its color can coordinate with the floor mats, wall padding, or existing brand colors. A custom logo can also be added according to the design requirements.
Roll-out mat material can be cut according to the shape and measurements of the column and then fitted according to the installation conditions.
If roll-out mats are already installed on the floor or used to cover the walls, using the same type of material around the column can create a more consistent appearance across the floor, walls, and columns.
Roll-out mat wrapping is not the same product as a dedicated column pad. The suitable option depends on the column structure, products already installed at the site, and the finished appearance the customer wants to achieve.
A column may be square or rectangular, and it may stand independently or sit directly against a wall with only two or three exposed sides. Customers can provide the width, depth, required padding height, and site photos so that the areas requiring coverage can be confirmed.
A dedicated column pad can be produced, or roll-out mat material can be cut and fitted according to the site conditions. If a logo is required, its position and direction can be confirmed according to the main viewing side.
For a round column, customers can provide its diameter or circumference, the required padding height, and clear site photos. Depending on the column dimensions and available installation space, either a dedicated column pad or roll-out mat wrapping can be considered.
If the column has different diameters at the top and bottom, or if pipes, connections, or protruding parts are present, these details should be shown in the photos. Customers do not need to calculate the final unfolded production dimensions.
Some columns are positioned directly against a wall, connected to a corner, or only partially exposed to the training area. These columns may only need padding on the visible sections rather than around the entire structure.
If wall padding or roll-out mat material is already installed, the connection between the wall and column can also be considered. Customers can send photos showing the column, wall, and floor mats together, and we will help determine whether a dedicated column pad or roll-out mat wrapping is more suitable.
Covering a column is not only about measurements and installation. It also affects the overall appearance of the training space.
Whether customers choose a dedicated column pad or roll-out mat wrapping, the color can coordinate with the floor mats, wall padding, or existing brand colors. Similar colors can help the column blend into the training space, while a contrasting color can make its position more visible.
For a dedicated column pad, a custom logo can also be added according to the design requirements. On a square column, the logo can be placed on the main display side or on several sides. For a round column, the viewing direction should be confirmed before production so that the logo faces the entrance or main training area after installation.
If roll-out mat material is used to wrap the column and a logo is also required, the design needs to be reviewed according to the cutting position, connection point, and installation direction.
